Linden, CA…On May 27, 2018, at approximately 11:13am, a fatal collision occurred on State Route 26, west of Murray Road. A gold Cadillac was travelling westbound on State Route 26, and a silver Toyota was travelling eastbound on State Route 26. According to physical evidence and witness statements, the driver of the Cadillac veered into the eastbound traffic lane, and the left front of the Cadillac collided head on with the left front of the Toyota. The Toyota rotated counter -clockwise, left the south side of the roadway, and the rear of the Toyota struck a power pole. The Cadillac left the north side of the roadway and collided with a steel post.
All parties in both vehicles were wearing seatbelts, and the two child passengers in the Toyota were seated and restrained in child safety seats. The impact to the Toyota was so severe, the left rear passenger, a four year old, sustained fatal injuries, and despite lifesaving efforts, was pronounced deceased at the scene. The driver of the Cadillac was transported for complaint of pain.
Both eastbound and westbound traffic lanes of State Route 26 were closed for approximately two and a half hours in order to collect physical evidence for the collision investigation.
Alcohol or drug impairment was not a factor in this collision.
