Horse Fire Had Nerves & 80 Acres Ablaze in Copperopolis Yesterday

Copperopolis, CA…The Horse Fire scorched 80 acres yesterday and had residents and firefighters scrambling on ground and air to protect structures and get fire under control before it became a conflagration on a Red Flag fire day in our area. We would like to thank Chip Dingman for the photos and details below.

The Horse Fire. This fire was dispatched about 4PM. The first in engine asked for additional aircraft for this fire. The fire was pretty much contained to the properties that bordered Horseshoe & Stagecoach. The fire did jump Stagecoach at one point but it was quickly contained by the fire crews on scene.

Air attack had the tankers make drops that completely lined both the right and left flanks with retardant. The copter on scene made numerous water drops on the fire.

Dispatched to this fire were: CalFire, Copperopolis Fire Protection District, Crew from Vallecito, 4 tankers, 2 copters(only one made it to the scene), Dozer 4442, 3 water tenders
