Copperopolis, CA…Edward Lucien Gouzenne was born on March 21, 1949 in Modesto, California. Ed was a fourth-generation Calaveras County resident and lived there all of his life. He graduated from Calaveras High School in 1967. Ed was traveling with his wife on an RV trip, through Medford, Oregon, when he became ill. Ed passed away on June 26th, 2018 surrounded by family. Ed leaves behind two sons, Brett and Eddy, a daughter-in-law, Sara, and a stepdaughter, Kayla Northington. Ed was also a newlywed and leaves behind his wife, Kathy. Ed and Kathy met in high school; they attended the Sweetheart Swing together. In September 2011, they rekindled their friendship and started dating. They married in October of 2016. Ed was most proud of his grandchildren, Soleil, Lavin and Sloane. He loved them dearly and for Ed it was a great day when he could spend time with them.
On April 15th, 2017, Ed retired from Calaveras Telephone in Copperopolis where he proudly worked for 38 years.
Ed had a servant’s heart. He served as a volunteer fire fighter for over 40 years, and currently served on the Copperopolis Fire Department board. He was a member of the IOOF Campo Seco 66 Lodge serving as the Noble Grand. Ed was part of the Tuleburg Chapter of Clampers. Ed’s greatest quality was his care and concern for his friends and family. He was always looking for ways to help friends who might be down on their luck, or just needed a little help. His heart was that of an angel and he will be greatly missed.
