Jackson, CA…From the Amador Sheriff’s Office…”On Sunday afternoon, the Sheriff’s Office received a troubling call from the pastor of a local church. The pastor explained that the mother of a 12-year-old recently learned that her daughter had been molested. The mother also disclosed that the suspect in the molestation is currently employed as an officer with the California Highway Patrol.
Amador County Sheriff’s Deputies, along with an Amador County Sheriff’s Detective, responded and conducted initial interviews. Through these interviews we learned that the suspect had been molesting the child for approximately one year. The suspect left for his father’s home in Placer County prior to our arrival. Deputies obtained an Emergency Protective Order for the young victim and the other members of her immediate family.
Amador County Sheriff’s Deputies contacted the Placer County Sheriff’s Office and requested assistance in finding and arresting the suspect. Monday afternoon, our detectives, with the assistance of Placer County Sheriff’s Office Detectives, found and arrested 35-year-old Michael Joslin of Pioneer. Joslin is being held in the Amador County Jail on charges of oral copulation with a minor under 14 by means of force or fear, penetration with a foreign object of a minor under 14 by means of force or fear, rape by means of force or fear, lewd acts with a child under 14 by means of force or fear, and continuous sexual abuse of a child. The investigation is ongoing and Joslin is no longer employed by the California Highway Patrol.
We would like to thank the Placer County Sheriff’s Office for assisting our office in safely taking Joslin into custody.”
