Sonora, CA…On August 18, 2018, at approximately 1745 hours, Joshua Nevel of Sonora was driving his 2003 GMC Sierra, southbound on Wards Ferry Road at an unknown speed. For unknown reasons, Nevel failed to negotiate a right hand curve in the roadway. Nevel made an unsafe turning movement and allowed his vehicle to drive off the east roadway edge of Wards Ferry Road. The GMC rolled over multiple times and fell approximately 450 feet down the embankment towards the Tuolumne River.

Nevel was ejected in an easterly direction from his vehicle. Nevel sustained major injuries as a result of the collision and was transported to Doctors Medical Center.

Alcohol was not a factor in the collision.
