Donnell Fire Containment Climbs to 49% & Hwy 108 Reopens

Pinecrest, CA…Highway 108 will open today at 4 pm all the way through to Highway 395. Vehicles are prohibited from stopping or deviating from the highway between Eagle Meadow Road (5N01) and Kennedy Meadows Road (6N01). The road to Kennedy Meadows will be open. Crews made progress around the northwest tip of the fire perimeter at Spicer Reservoir and are working to secure the saddle below the Dardanelle. Air support continues in the Carson-Iceberg Wilderness assisting the Wildland Fire Modules spiked out in the area. A spot fire was found north of the Donnell Reservoir, a rappel crew will be inserted today to secure that western line. Crews continued mop up and suppression repair along the southern containment line. Hazard tree mitigation remains a priority.
