Stolen Motorcycle Recovered and Pair Arrested in Jamestown

Sonora, CA…From the Tuolumne Sheriff’s Dept. on Aug 30th…”One of the best things about our job is helping people. In this case, we reunited a man with his stolen motorcycle. Early this morning, one of our deputies saw a man and woman with a motorcycle at the Sierra Energy Gas Station on Hwy 108 in Jamestown. The deputy questioned 40-year-old James Thurman Jr. and 32-year-old Nichole Star, both of Sonora, because the motorcycle did not have any license plates. The deputy found a VIN number on the motorcycle and did a records check which revealed it was stolen.

Thurman and Star were arrested and during a search, deputies found methamphetamine in Thurman’s wallet. The two were booked into the Tuolumne County Jail for possession of a stolen vehicle. Thurman was also charged with driving on a suspended license and possession of a controlled substance.

Deputies contacted the owner and returned the motorcycle. The owner told the deputy the ignition had been altered and parts of the bike had been spray painted. Despite the damage done to his bike, you can see he is happy to have it back.”
