Sonora Man Arrested on Arson Charges

Sonora, CA…From the Sonora Police Dept…”On September 10, 2018 at about 7:59pm, Stanley Jesse Wooden, of Sonora, was arrested for arson, which took place on September 6, 2018 at the Intake Grill. The investigation is still active. Wooden was booked at the Tuolumne County Jail for arson of an inhabited building with a bail of $75,000.00.

On Thursday, September 6, 2018, at around 11:40 a.m., the Sonora Police Department received a call regarding smoke coming from underneath the Intake Bar and Grill on S. Washington Street. Fire personnel were dispatched and Police Officers responded to the scene and accessed the source of the smoke from the underneath the Sonora Creek bridge. A wooden support beam was actively burning along with some articles of trash. Within minutes the Officers were able to extinguish the flames using a bucket and water from the creek.

The cause of the fire is still being investigated and it is too soon to determine whether it was intentionally set or if it was an act of carelessness. Although there have been multiple homeless subjects reported in the area, it is unknown at this time if transient activity played a role in the fire.”
