July 24, 2015 – 2015 CWA Vineyard Tour & BBQ with Tour Specialist, Lynn Wunderlich of UCCE Calaveras County Farm Advisor – The Vineyard Tour is an educational program and is open to the public. Only once a year do we have the opportunity to visit this many of the most interesting vineyards in Calaveras County and to have commentary from UC experts at each stop. Vineyard managers and winemakers working with these sites will discuss the challenges and successes while we sip the proprietary wines. The event concludes with the annual “Growers Barbecue” where we discuss the day’s events over locally grown and prepared food and more Calaveras wines. The vineyard tour registration fee is $20/person and includes lunch. Shuttle service is available during the tour for an additional $30 per person (limited to 24 passengers). Reservations are required for the Vineyard Tour, shuttle service and the BBQ. Registration and reservations must be made no later than July 17 through Eventbrite. July 12, 2015 – Artist’s Reception at Hovey Tasting Room – The en plein air oil paintings and pastels of the Calaveras Outdoor Painting Society (COPS) will be featured the month of July at Hovey Winery Tasting Room, 350 A Main St., Murphys. A duo of talented local artists – Sunny Sorensen and Judie Cain– will fill the tasting room walls with their original art, all created on location in Calaveras County and beyond. An artist’s reception will be held in their honor from 4:30 to 6 p.m. Sunday, July12. Complimentary appetizers will be served and wine will be available by the glass or bottle.

July 18, 11:30 a.m. – Murphys Homecoming & Duck Races – The Murphys Community Club’s traditional Murphys Homecoming will be celebrated on Saturday in the Park. The Calaveras Community Band will kick off the festivities with a concert starting at 11:30 a.m. Other activities will include the Old Timers Luncheon for local residents who are at least 70 years of age and have lived in the area for ten years or more. There will also be the greatly anticipated duck races that benefit the Calaveras Youth Mentoring Foundation. The Murphys Community Club will be selling a hot dog plate, ice cream bars, wine and other beverages. There is no admission charge.
