San Andreas, CA…CALAVERAS COUNTY BOARD OF SUPERVISORS SUMMARY PUBLIC NOTICE. On September 25, 2018, the Calaveras County Board of Supervisors introduced an ordinance amending and replacing current Calaveras County Code Chapter 2.72. The purpose and intent of this chapter is to outline the emergency management organization and functions as they pertain to preparing and carrying out the plans for the protection of persons and property within the county.

The ordinance is required by the California Emergency Services Act and establishes the Office of Emergency Services, designates the Emergency Services Director as the Director of the Office of Emergency Services, outlines the powers and duties of the Director of the Office of Emergency Services, outlines the membership of the local Disaster Council and outlines the powers and duties of the local Disaster Council. Further, this ordinance establishes the authority of the Office of Emergency Services to utilize Disaster Service Workers. This ordinance has not been revised since it was first adopted 1975. The revised ordinance provides for alignment with the current structure of the Office of Emergency Services and ensures compliance with the California Emergency Services Act.

The Board is scheduled to adopt this ordinance at the regularly scheduled Board of Supervisors meeting on October 23, 2018.
