Murphys, CA…The nd&x is so pleased to be hosting another fresh innovative solo show featuring the works of super talented local artist Staria Stine. Staria is driven by her curiosity and passion for the natural environment and her interest in our complex relationship with Nature both presently, as well as over the course of human history is evident in her latest endeavor. In this body of work Staria is focusing on the topic of genetically modified organics.

(GMOs) and how they have been incorporated into our contemporary applications. Genetica modification is a forced process, and perhaps one that the natural world might inevitably reject, potentially leading us down the road to monoculture systems and that of collapse. Therefore, this raises the question of our ethical responsibilities, pointing to our future societal costs. Working closely with plants and the complex information systems found within their structures, this body of work calls attention to the precise, delicate and highly-informed design of edible plants and other organics.
