34 Year Old Sonora Woman Loses Her Life in Logging Truck vs Vehicle Collision

Sonora, CA…On Wednesday, November 14, 2018 at approximately 7:05 am, 25 year old Wallace resident, Tyler Hughes, was driving a loaded logging truck, eastbound on State Route 108 approaching Stockton Street. A 34 year old Sonora resident was driving a 1996 Honda Civic, eastbound on State Route 108, ahead of Hughes. For unknown reasons, the driver of the Civic drove onto the right shoulder and immediately initiated a U-turn directly into Hughes path. Subsequently, the front of the logging truck struck the left side of the Civic.

The driver of the Civic was properly restrained but tragically sustained fatal injuries as a result of this collision. Hughes was properly restrained and did not sustain any injuries.

Alcohol and/or drugs do not appear to be a factor in this collision. The collision is still under investigation.
