Busy Weekend for Tuolumne Deputies Ended in Two Meth Busts.

Sonora, CA…Late Friday night, one of our deputies made a traffic stop on Hwy 108 near Hwy 49 because the driver was impeding traffic and the car’s license plate was obstructed. Driver, 59-year-old Dawn Ellis of Delhi was arrested after a search of her truck and belongings turned up more than 71 grams of methamphetamine and psilocybin mushrooms. Ellis also had a methamphetamine pipe, multiple empty plastic bags, a digital scale, and over $4,000 in cash.

Early Sunday morning, a Deputy attempted to make a traffic stop on a car for expired registration and driving through the road closure on Jamestown Road. The driver failed to stop and quickly turned into a driveway of a home in the 18400 block of Jamestown Road. When the vehicle finally came to a stop the passenger ran from the car.
The driver was identified as 45-year-old Michael Brown of Oakdale. During a search, we recovered a digital scale and 165 grams of methamphetamine.

Both Ellis and Brown were booked into the Tuolumne County Jail for possession and transportation of methamphetamine for sale.
