Blues band Julie and the Jukes to Mountain Ranch for Calaveras Arts Free Music in the Parks

Mountain Ranch, CA…Sacramento based blues band Julie and the Jukes play pure, classic blues at Calaveras Arts free Music in the Parks on Wednesday, July 22 in Mountain Ranch at the Community Park. Music begins at 6:30pm. Bring your low back chairs, picnic dinners, favorite beverage along with you to make a full, fun evening with friends, family and great music. If you prefer not to hassle with dinner, purchase a dinner of chicken and beverage from volunteers of the Youth Alliance. Dinners are sold from 5:30pm to 6:30pm for $10 each. The cost in nominal and the proceeds support their good work.

Julie and the Jukes are favorites among the foothills and beyond. They have performed at the Capital, UC Davis Medical Center and opened for BB King at the Mondavi Center. They bring to life the classic Chicago blues of Muddy Waters and Howlin’ Wolf, the Memphis sounds of B. B. King and Albert King, the Texas style of Freddie King, and the classic women’s blues of Bessie Smith and Ida Cox.

Each summer, the non-profit Calaveras Arts Council brings together locals and visitors alike for festive evening gatherings of free live music and do-it-yourself picnicking. While the events are free of charge, optional donations–whether made in advance or “dropped in the bucket” during the event–are always welcome and go a long way towards helping the Council continue its mission of supporting musical, visual, and performance arts in Calaveras County–with a focus on local talent. The Arts Council’s Music in the Park series takes place every Wednesday evening from June through August in the central gathering places of various small communities within Calaveras County. The next MIP is July 29 at Rail Road Flat Elementary School with The Kool Shifters. A complete schedule for the 2015 Music in the Parks (MIP) series can be found on the Calaveras Arts Council’s website calaverasarts.org.
