Valley Springs, CA…On 12-15-18 a Calaveras County Sheriff’s Office Deputy contacted Edward Pereira (age 45 of Campo Seco) who was driving in the area of Campo Seco. At the time of this contact, Pereira presented documentation of temporary vehicle registration. The Deputy was suspicious about the validity of the paperwork and after the contact further follow-up was conducted through the Department of Motor Vehicles.
The Deputy learned that the paperwork was forged. On 12-20-18 at approx. 1330 hours, CCSO was notified that an officer with the California Highway Patrol had conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle with no plates at Baldwin Lane and Highway 26 in Valley Springs. Edward Pereira was identified as the driver. A CCSO Deputy responded to the traffic stop and placed Pereira under arrest for charges related to the forged DMV paperwork.
During a search of the vehicle, several items of property and articles of mail were found relating to an address in the 10000 block of Shelton Road near Valley Springs. A Deputy responded to that residence and found signs of forced entry and that the house had been burglarized. Edward Pereira was arrested on numerous charges relating to the burglary and possession of stolen property which included pet remains and prescribed medication belonging to the burglary victim.
Pereira was additionally charged with possession of methamphetamine and also committing a felony crime while out on bail. The following is a list of Pereira’s charges from the two cases:
