As of 12/1/18, Bear Valley Cross Country glided into a new ownership model. The Bear Valley Mountain Cooperative is the new owner and you can look forward to a seamless transition. Bear Valley Cross Country World Class Cross Country Skiing
Bear Valley lies in the heart of the Central Sierra between the Mokelumne and Carson Iceberg Wilderness areas. You will enjoy an extensive trail system of over 3,000 acres. Amenities include 38 trails carefully groomed for track and skate skiing and snowshoeing, the trailside Meadow Cafe, a complete rental, demo and retail facility, 4 trailside huts, picnic tables, park benches, two kids’ ski trails, a waxing hut, groomed downhill practice area and a sledding/tubing facility. The elevation of 7,000 to 7,800 feet guarantees first to open (usually mid November) and last to close (usually mid April) status among Sierra cross country centers. Trails are open from 9am to 4:30pm daily. Bear Valley Cross Country is the Tahoe Alternative.
Bear Valley Village offers a variety of lodging options, all walking or skiing distance from the trails. From ski in, ski out cabin rentals, to family friendly condos and a classic ski lodge, you will find a nice place to stay. Bear Valley is a short drive from the Bay Area. With no stop lights for over 35 miles and little traffic and no avalanche areas, all-weather Highway 4 (now a National Scenic Byway) is an easy driving route to your next winter recreation adventure. The Cross Country Center converts to the Bear Valley Adventure Company in the summer with bike rentals, sales and repair, flatwater kayak school and rentals, a variety of special events and races and is your connection to all of Bear Valley’s summer adventures.
