Enjoy a Summer Evening At Rail Road Flat Elementary School With The Kool Shifters

Rail Road Flat, CA…Foothill residents, Dave Koolhoven on vocals and drums, his wife Patti Koolhaven on vocals , keyboard, and guitar, Dana Angle on vocals and guitar, Myron Smallin on guitar, and Gordon Giedt on saxophone and flute, make up the Kool Shifters. They perform their classic rock and country for the Calaveras Arts Councils seventh free Music in the Parks performance on Wednesday, July 29 at Rail Road Flat Elementary School in Rail Road Flat. The Kool Shifters have long individual careers in music performance and management as well as touring, playing with, and opening for some of the great bands like Stevie Ray Vaughn, Huey Lewis and the News. Their credentials as music professionals is solid. Music begins at 6:30pm and ends at 8:00pm.

Rail Road Flat Elementary PTO and students will have goodies to sell so if you don’t bring your own dinner, please support them and buy your beverage and dinner from them. Remember, this is a school campus and all drinks must be non alcoholic.

For the past 24 years, the non-profit Calaveras Arts Council brings together locals and visitors alike for festive evening gatherings of free live music and do-it-yourself picnicking. While the events are free of charge, optional donations–whether made in advance or “dropped in the bucket” during the event–are always welcome and go a long way towards helping the Council continue its mission of supporting musical, visual, and performance arts in Calaveras County–with a focus on local talent. The Arts Council’s Music in the Park series takes place every Wednesday evening from June through August in the central gathering places of various small communities within Calaveras County. The next MIP is August 5 at Turner Park in San Andreas with Murphys very own, The New Wave rockers, The Hot Dark. Rail Road Flat Elementary School is alcohol free grounds. To get there from Mokelumne Hill, take Highway 26 East to Ridge Road. Turn sharp right and travel 4 miles to Rail Road Flat. School is on the right. From San Andreas, take Mountain Ranch Road East to the end. Turn right at T-intersection. Go short distance into town. School is on the right.
