Jennifer Gabriel Goerlitz 1963 – 2018

Angels Camp, CA…Jennifer Gabriel Goerlitz, January 21, 1963 – December 17, 2018. Jennifer was born in Sunnyvale and relocated with her family to Arnold in 1976. After attending Hazel Fischer Elementary and Bret Harte High School, she moved to San Luis Obispo where she earned a degree in Agricultural Business Management from Cal Poly University. Jennifer moved back to Calaveras County where she worked for 30 years in the UC Cooperative Extension – Calaveras County, as the 4-H Program Coordinator. Additionally, she also served as the 4-H Program Representative for Amador and Tuolumne counties.

Jennifer spent countless hours with kids, families and community members, supporting and growing the 4-H program. She never gave up when funding was jeopardized by budget cuts. She truly loved her job and made a positive impact to the kids and the parents of 4-H with the attitude of “We can all do this together!”. During county fair, she supported 4-H kids by helping get their animals ready, stalls cleaned, and prepared for auction and award ceremonies.

Jennifer was well-known as an avid Volkswagen enthusiast. She was the founder of VWswap.com and co-founder of the Motherlode Volkswagen Club. Fondly known as “VW Jen”, she organized many swap-meets, car shows and events. Jennifer had a love of refurbishing VW bugs and buses, and often would have two or three in various stages of body work and detailing at a time.

Jennifer is survived by her father Donald (Patricia) Goerlitz, sons Seth Mitchell, Blake Mitchell, brothers Mark Goerlitz, Matt (Melissa) Goerlitz and sister Gretchen (Scott) McReynolds, nieces Sarah (Jordan) Galla-Stratigakes, Carly McReynolds, and nephew Tyler Goerlitz.

Jennifer passed away peacefully in her home with the comfort of her loving family and friends by her side.

We will love you forever and will never forget your legacy Jen!!
