Murphys, CA…Calaveras Winegrape Alliance is set to host the 23rd Annual Presidents’ Wine Weekend on February 16th and 17th 2019 from 11:00 to 5:00 each day. Nestled in a beautiful landscape, at the base of the Sierra Foothills and just 90 minutes from the Bay Area and Sacramento region, Calaveras Wine Country is the perfect one-stop wine and adventure wonderland. The 23rd Annual “Presidents’ Wine Weekend” in Calaveras County opens the doors to discovering wineries, wine experiences and special events in the Gold Rush town of Murphys, CA. Weekend visitors will be given a map to explore the tasting rooms of their choice with the purchase of a $25 commemorative glass where they can enjoy a limited flight of award-winning wines at over 24 participating wineries. While visiting Calaveras County wineries, attendees can also purchase tickets to exclusive winemaker events, participate in barrel tastings, and many more activities that surround this wine-centric festival. Ironstone Vineyards is hosting the Presidents’ Wine Weekend Kick-Off Party on Friday, February 15th at 6:00 where attendees will enjoy appetizers and wine pairings along with live entertainment. Tickets available at Ironstone Winery event page. The “How to Taste Wine” experience will take place at Locke Vineyards where attendees will be guided thru the five main components of wine tasting. Each class is 45 minutes and starts at 10:30 am Saturday and Sunday during Presidents’ Wine Weekend. Advance tickets are available at the Locke Vineyards event page. Wine Weekend visitors can join a “guerrilla-style” Tap Takeover at the Newsome Harlow downtown Tasting Room on Saturday and Sunday by an exciting new label, Ten By Ten Wines! Fans of Newsome Harlow can finally have a chance to experience this latest project which includes varietals like Chardonnay, Cabernet Sauvignon, Malbec, and Primitivo. Weekend attendees can also pop over to the Newsome Harlow winery (about a 2-minute drive or 8-minute walk from downtown) and taste several of their classics with winemaker & owners, Scott & Melanie Klann. The winery is located at 107 Emerald Creek Drive Murphys. The fun team at Twisted Oak Winery will be hosting an intimate winery dinner party on Saturday, February 16th at 6:00 featuring “Favorite Foods of Past Presidents” paired with wines and live music! Only 70 tickets available for this dinner event at the Twisted Oak Winery “Goings On” events page. To wrap up the weekend festivities, a select group of attendees can join the Dixieland “Stars & Stripes” Brunch at the newly remodeled Dunbar House and outdoor event space on Sunday, February 17th 11:00 – 1:00. Limited to 50 attendees, tickets are available through pre-sale at the Dunbar House Bed and Breakfast website.
Presidents’ Wine Weekend in Calaveras County is the best time for wine lovers to get to know local winemakers and family producers, taste their way through unique Calaveras varietals, learn more about the region’s terroir and connect with family-run craft wineries that make up the emerging Calaveras Wine Country.
