Sonora, CA…A death investigation is underway after the body of a man was found over the weekend. Late Friday evening our office received a report of a deceased person in a remote unincorporated area between Jamestown and Sonora. Deputies searched the area but did not locate anyone at that time due to darkness. At daybreak on Saturday, with additional resources, Deputies found the body of a deceased man in a wooded area South of Gibbs Tower.

Detectives are actively investigating this case and have not yet determined if foul play is suspected. An autopsy has been scheduled to determine the identity of the man and cause of death.
