Murphys, CA…Steve Burg of Murphys, passed away at the age of 81 on January 25, 2019. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Sue, daughter, Shari Hawkins, son and daughter-in-law, Scott and Cynthia Burg, 4-grandchildren, and 2-great-grandchildren. Steve was born and raised in New England, graduating from high school in 1955 and going on to attend Boston University where he studied business. Steve built a professional career that included work in commercial real estate and financial investment consulting. In his retirement years, after settling in the Sierra foothills, Steve volunteered as a docent and ultimately attained a job at Big Trees State Park, a place he coveted dearly.

Steve will forever be remembered for his zest for life, outgoing, positive personality and many interests that included boating, fishing, classical music and travel.

A Celebration of Life service is planned for Sunday March 3rd at 11:00 a.m. at the Diggins Clubhouse in Murphys. Donations in Steve’s name can be made to Calaveras Big Trees Association (CBTA).
