Sonora Man Arrested on Numerous Charges after Traffic Stop

Sonora, CA…From the Tuolumne Sheriff’s Dept…”Early this morning, Deputy O’Brien pulled over a red Mercury Cougar on Tuolumne Road in Sonora for having a brake light out. A records check of the driver, 36-year-old Brandon Salter of Sonora showed he was wanted and on probation. Salter refused to step out of his vehicle for a search but finally complied and told deputies he had a shotgun in a backpack on the passenger seat of his car. During a search of the vehicle, a loaded sawed-off shotgun, ammunition, drug paraphernalia, drug packaging, and several individual baggies containing over 34 grams of methamphetamine were found.

Salter was arrested and booked into the Tuolumne County Jail for carrying a concealed weapon in a vehicle, carrying a loaded firearm with intent to commit a felony, possession of a controlled substance while armed with a loaded firearm, felon in possession of a firearm, manufacturing a short barreled rifle/shotgun, and possession and transportation of a controlled substance.”
