Another Arrest Made in High Country Burglaries

Strawberry, CA…From the Tuolumne Sheriff’s Dept…”Thanks to tips from our community, we’ve made a second arrest in a string of burglaries in Strawberry. In January 2018, there were several cabin break-ins in the River Drive area. Closets, cabinets and drawers were rummaged through and the homes were ransacked. TVs and credit cards were reported stolen.

Several days later, 33-year-old Janitta Garcia of Oakdale and a man in a 2006 silver Chrysler 300 were seen on surveillance footage at Walmart in Sonora using the stolen credit card from the burglary. The couple racked up over $2000 in charges on the stolen card in several locations in Oakdale, Sonora and Cold Springs. Garcia was arrested the following week by our deputies at Black Oak Casino in Tuolumne. She was charged with conspiracy, burglary, identity theft and grand theft.

We still had one suspect on the loose, and as always our amazing community came through and identified the suspect as 30-year-old Justin Labass of Oakdale. A ramey warrant was issued by a judge and Labass was arrested and booked into the Tuolumne County Jail to face his charges of burglary, ID theft and conspiracy.

Thank your for helping us keep Tuolumne County safe.”
