Stanislaus National Forest Fire Updates

Sonora, CA…Rosasco Fire: The Rosasco Fire is a holdover heat signature from the Rim Fire. It is burning in deep duff layers, making it difficult to extinguish. Line has been cut around the fire and it is holding, in containment, at 3.4 acres. Though there has been no situational change since yesterday, crews will continue to mop-up and patrol the fire. The fire is located near Rosasco Meadow which is west of Cherry Lake and north of Woods Ridge, in the Groveland Ranger District.

Big Creek Fire: An update on the Big Creek Fire will be forthcoming as soon as we have an approved statement from CalFire. In the meantime, additional fire information can be obtained on the Big Creek Fire Information hotline at: 209-754-5527 or by viewing CalFire’s website: http://cdfdata.fire.ca.gov/incidents/incidents_details_info?incident_id=1164

Reservoir Fire: A smoke was reported July 30th by a patrol unit and U.S. Forest Service crews hiked into a drainage near Donnell Reservoir to investigate. Upon arriving, they began cutting handline around this lightning caused fire, which has now grown to two acres. Resources assigned to the timber fire remain the same as yesterday, with two exceptions. An engine from New Mexico is now assisting and air resources have been released for the time being. Despite the extremely steep terrain, the fire is now 50 percent contained.
