Suspected Drunk Driver Arrested After Striking Three Vehicles in Angels Camp

Angels Camp, CA…On May 20, 2019 at approximately 4:52 PM, officers from the Angels Camp Police Department responded to a report of a non-injury vehicle accident involving a suspected drunk driver. Witnesses reported the suspected drunk driver struck three parked vehicles with his vehicle causing minor damage before fleeing the scene.

An officer from the California Highway Patrol located the suspect vehicle on Hwy 49 near Lombardi Dr in San Andreas and detained the driver until Angels Camp Police Department officers arrived.

The driver was confirmed to be the person involved in the vehicle accident and was identified as 47 year old, Jackson resident , Richard Davis.

Davis was found to be under the influence of alcohol and had .22 caliber ammunition in his pocket. Officers located an unloaded .22 caliber firearm on the front passenger seat of the vehicle under some clothing.

Davis was arrested and booked in to the Calaveras County Jail for the following charges:

25400(a)(1) PC- Carry a Concealed Firearm
23152(a) VC- Driving Under the Influence-Alcohol
23152(b) VC- Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol- .08% BAC or higher
20002(a) VC- Hit and Run; Property Damage
