Tuolumne, CA…Around 3:30 Friday morning, Deputies were called to a home on Silver Spur Drive in Tuolumne for a reported assault. 41-year-old Joshua Conner had choked a 65-year-old man leaving him unconscious. One of our Sergeants caught Conner driving on Silver Spur Drive. Conner drove directly towards the Sergeant’s patrol car. The Sergeant was forced to jump out of his vehicle to avoid being hit by Conner’s SUV. Instead of complying with orders to stop, Conner slammed on his brakes and stopped briefly before spinning his tires and taking off at a high rate of speed. Deputies searched the area but were unable to locate him.
The victim suffered a head injury and was taken to a local hospital for a medical evaluation. Later that morning, Conner contacted our office and wanted to turn himself in. Deputies met Conner at the park in Tuolumne on Fir Street and placed him under arrest. Conner also admitted during his arrest that he had been drinking alcohol prior to the confrontation.
Conner was booked into the Tuolumne County Jail for battery with serious bodily injury, elder abuse, assault on a peace officer, and obstruction.
