CAL FIRE to Conduct Prescribed Fire Project in Salt Springs Valley on June 4th

San Andreas, CA…The CAL FIRE Tuolumne – Calaveras Unit will be conducting a prescribed fire project in the Salt Springs Valley between Copperopolis and Valley Springs on Tuesday, June 4, 2019. The project encompasses 280 acres of grassland. The intent of the project is to reduce the amount of Medusahead Grass, a noxious weed, and to provide live fire training.

Firefighters will be on project for most of the day Thursday and burn all 280 acres if weather and fuel conditions permit. Smoke may be visible during the day Thursday. Six CAL FIRE Engines, one Copperopolis Fire District Engine, one CAL FIRE Hand Crew and one CAL FIRE Bulldozer will be assigned to the project.
