Sonora, CA…From the Tuolumne Sheriff’s Office…”A would-be burglar captured on camera, was caught thanks to a tip from a community member who recognized him. On May 23rd, 29-year-old Cody Wright of Jamestown, attempted to break into a home through a side door of an attached garage while the homeowners were inside. After failing to break in, Wright entered an unlocked vehicle parked in the driveway and rummaged through it. Luckily, he was caught on home surveillance.
Deputies found Wright at Safeway in Sonora and he admitted to the attempted break-in. A search of his backpack netted heroin, drug paraphernalia, and several items, determined to be stolen earlier in the day from Walmart and Safeway.
Wright was arrested and booked into the Tuolumne County Jail for possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and attempted burglary. The stolen items were returned to the businesses.
