Murphys, CA…The Angels-Murphys Rotary Club held their annual Peace Officers and Firefighters of the Year awards luncheon on June 6, 2019 where eight law enforcement and emergency services personnel were honored. The event was held at the Murphys Historic Hotel and was well attended. Each supervisor spent a moment telling the audience about the accomplishments of their honorees.

This year the honorees are: Sierra Conservation Center – Sgt. Sean Kelley; California Highway Patrol – Leonard Gentile; Calaveras County Sheriff’s Dept. – Sgt. Chris Dorsey; Angels Camp Fire Dept. – Firefighter Andrew Brauer; Altaville-Melones Fire Protection Dist. – Firefighter Jeremy Scheller; Murphys Fire Protection Dist. – Firefighter Gordon Sadler, Jr.; Ebbetts Pass Fire Dept. – Engineer-EMT Jim Eaves; CalFIRE – Fire Captain Nicole Gissell.

The Angels-Murphys Rotary Club’s motto is “Service Above Self” and meets at noon on Thursdays at the Murphys Historic Hotel. Visitors are welcome to find out what Rotary is all about.
