Sonora, CA…On June 22, 2019, at approximately 12:30 am, Jaycee Eddie Alameda a 26-year-old male from Merced was riding a 2008 Honda motorcycle westbound on State Route 108, west of S. Washington Street at an unknown rate of speed. At that location, Sonora Police Department Officer Thomas Brickley, was parked on the right shoulder of westbound State Route 108, west of S. Washington Street with his rear amber warning lights activated. Officer Brickley was dispatched to another call and activated the patrol vehicle’s blue and red emergency lights.
As Mr. Alameda approached the rear of Officer Brickley’s patrol vehicle, Officer Brickley attempted to make a u turn into the eastbound lane of State Route 108, directly in the path of the Mr. Alameda’s motorcycle. Mr. Alameda was unable to avoid colliding with the left side of the patrol vehicle. After the vehicles collided, Mr. Alameda suffered major injuries and was transported to Doctors Medical Center for treatment. Officer Brickley suffered minor injuries as a result of the collision.
This collision is still under investigation.
