Boat vs Dock at Pinecrest Lake

Pinecrest, CA…From the Tuolumne Sheriff’s Dept…”During the summer months the beautiful weather brings many visitors to our county for recreation. When enjoying our lakes we would like to remind everyone to be safe.
Yesterday, our boating unit responded to Pinecrest Lake for a boating accident due to operator inexperience. The driver accidentally accelerated into the dock sending his passenger flying into the water. Thankfully the passenger was uninjured but a person standing on the dock suffered minor injuries. Alcohol was not a factor but there are some safety tips our deputies would like to share.

Many boaters are unaware that it is now required by law for boaters under 25 years old to have a boating safety card.

Go to the Boating and Waterways website at: https://dbw.parks.ca.gov/?page_id=28731
for boating courses, to apply for a safety card, and to learn about boating laws.”

Always make sure you have all required safety equipment on board before you venture out on the water. Familiarize your boaters with boat safety and the location of the safety equipment.

Wear a life jacket and be safe!
