Sonora, CA…On July 18, 2019, at approximately 4:30 pm, Violet Auxildadora Baker, a 78-year-old female out of Sonora, was driving her 2006 Ford Escape eastbound on State Route 120, east of La Grange Road at approximately 55 miles per hour. At that same time, Seth Michael Smith, a 38-year-old male out of Oakdale, was driving his 2011 Chevrolet pickup westbound on State Route 120, east of La Grange Road at approximately 55 miles per hour. For an unknown reason, Ms. Baker allowed her vehicle to drift over the double yellow lines into the westbound lane directly in front of Mr. Smith’s vehicle.
Mr. Smith steered his vehicle to the right, however he was unable to avoid the collision. After the vehicles collided, Mr. Smith’s vehicle traveled across the eastbound lane of State Route 120 and came to rest on the south shoulder. Ms. Baker’s vehicle traveled across the westbound lane of traffic onto the north shoulder and collided into a fence.
Ms. Baker suffered moderate injuries and was transported by ground ambulance to Adventist Health of Sonora for treatment. Mr. Smith suffered minor injuries as a result of the collision. Alcohol and/or drugs are not considered to be a factor in this collision.
