Murpys, CA…The Iconics, a seven-member band from San Jose that plays tunes from the 50’s and 60’s with a nod to the roots of Rock & Roll, will entertain the crowd at the First Friday in the Park concert to be held August 2 in the cool confines of Murphys Community Park starting at 5:30 p.m.
“We are a cover band specializing in the music of such greats as Elvis, Dion, Beatles, Beach Boys, Dusty Springfield, and more,” states band leader Jim Barnes. “It’s still the best stuff going, and great for dancing and singing along.”
The park’s Alcoholic Beverage Control (ABC) license prohibits the bringing of wine or liquor into the park but wine and beer will be available to purchase with the proceeds going to the Murphys Community Club.
Starting at 4 p.m., a special dinner prepared by Sierra Hills & Lila & Sage catering will be available for purchase at $10.00 per person. The menu includes pulled pork sandwich / sliders, Asian coleslaw, potato salad and lemon bars. The featured wines will be Klassen’s Barbera and Chardonnay.
Friends and neighbors are encouraged to bring lawn chairs or blankets and enjoy a small-town America gathering.
There is no admission charge and ample free parking is available nearby. Donations to help maintain the park are always gratefully received.
Murphys Community Park is located on Algiers St. in historic downtown Murphys. Membership in the Murphys Community Club is open to everyone and contributions are tax deductible. For further information, call 728-8093, or click on the Community Club link at visitmurphys.com.
