Burglary Suspect Held At Gunpoint Until Deputies Arrive For Arrest

Sonora, CA…On 8/10/15 about 11:00 A.M. a homeowner returned to his home in the 15000 block of Jamestown Road. The resident noticed a black duffel bag with items from the home inside outside his residence. He then proceeded to the residence and found lights and a ceiling fan on. The lights and ceiling fan had not been left on when the homeowner had left the residence. A contractor arrived on scene to do some pre-scheduled work and went inside the residence with the homeowner. They discovered several paintings, a chain saw and other items missing from the residence.

As they were looking around the residence they saw a male subject later identified as, 52 year old Scott Oliver, in the driveway of the residence. The contractor confirmed to the homeowner that Oliver was not an employee of his and the homeowner noticed Oliver was wearing his clothing. The homeowner was in possession of a handgun and confronted Oliver. The homeowner held Oliver at gunpoint until the arrival of Tuolumne County Sheriff’s Deputies.

After investigating the incident Oliver was arrested for burglary and vandalism . He was booked into the Tuolumne County Jail. As of 8/11/15 at 0945 A.M. Oliver is still in custody pending his arraignment in court.
