Pair Arrested After Boat Motor Thefts

Sonora, CA…From the Tuolumne Sheriff’s Dept..”Our deputies are always happy to deliver stolen items to their rightful owner. On Sunday morning, deputies responded to a theft at a home on McKamey Court in Sonora where two boat motors were stolen. The homeowner showed deputies surveillance video of two men in a white truck committing the theft and loading the motors onto a trailer. The men were identified as 38-year-old Steven Murphy and 37-year-old Jason Peluso both of Sonora.

During the investigation, deputies found the truck and trailer used in the theft at Murphy’s home. A search of Peluso’s home turned up the two stolen boat motors.

Both men who are on probation, were arrested and booked into the Tuolumne County Jail for grand theft, conspiracy, and receiving stolen property.
