Modesto Woman Riding Stolen Motorcycle Leads CHP on High Speed Chase

Sonora, CA…On September 2, 2019, at approximately 3:54 pm, a CHP officer observed a 2014 Yamaha motorcycle with no rear license plate traveling on State Route 108 near Mono Way. The motorcycle was being ridden by 44-year-old Monica Lynn Relaford of Modesto. The CHP officer attempted to make an enforcement stop on the motorcycle, however Ms. Relaford failed to yield to the emergency lights and a pursuit ensued. She led CHP officers on a pursuit which covered more than 12 miles of roadway and reached speeds over 100 miles per hour. Ms. Relaford traveled onto Serrano Road momentarily when she laid the motorcycle down and fled the scene on foot. The CHP officer pursued Ms. Relaford on foot and she was quickly apprehended and taken into custody.

A registration check on the motorcycle revealed it was reported stolen out of Stanislaus County. Additionally, Ms. Relaford was also found to be in possession of drug paraphernalia. She was booked into the Tuolumne County jail for felony evading, resisting arrest, possession of a stolen vehicle and additional charges.
