Murphys, CA…A 30 year old Murphys man was driving a Toyota on Sheep Ranch Road northbound at an unknown speed descending a grade at approximately 2330 hours. He allowed his vehicle to drive off the west road edge and down a steep embankment. As the Toyota was on the embankment it overturned causing the left front windshield area to be crushed by a tree. As it overturned the driver was ejected. Both the driver and the Toyota landed at the bottom of an approximately 100 foot ravine. The Toyota came to rest on its roof. The driver lost consciousness for an unknown time. He waited until the sun rose on 9-20-2019 to climb up the hillside to seek assistance. The vehicle was not visible from the roadway.
He was flown to Memorial Hospital in Modesto this morning for treatment of his injuries.
