Sonora, CA…From CHP…”On Sunday, October 6, 2019, at approximately 10:35 PM, a 40-year-old man from Tuolumne County was driving his 2001 Chevrolet pickup westbound on Lyons Bald Mountain Road, east of Apple Valley Drive, at an unknown high rate of speed. The driver allowed the vehicle to leave the roadway in a northerly direction. The vehicle ramped off large rocks on the shoulder and became airborne. The vehicle collided with a tree and came to rest on its wheels. The driver was a solo occupant of the vehicle. He was not wearing his seatbelt and was pinned in the driver seat of the vehicle.
The driver was pronounced deceased on scene by paramedics. The cause of this collision is pending further investigation. Alcohol may have been a factor in this collision. The identity of the driver is pending notification to next of kin.”
