Rodney Hal Tindel 1948 – 2019, Celebration of Life at Old Schoolhouse, November 17th

Murphys, CA…Rodney Hal Tindell, age 71, of Murphys, Calif. passed away surrounded by family on Thursday October 10th, 2019. Rodney was born June 28th, 1948 in Sonora, Calif., to Halbert “Bud” Tindell and Charlotte (Shelton) Tindell. He was preceded in death by his father Halbert “Bud” Tindell and younger brother, Roger Tindell. Lifelong native of Murphys, Rodney spent his early years working at the asbestos plant, followed by a career path in operating heavy machinery in the construction field and ultimately becoming self-employed to continue his passion of ‘dirt work’ on his backhoe, or plowing snow for local companies and residences.

Rodney was an avid outdoorsman. He enjoyed passing any spare time by hunting, shooting, and fishing, but more so enjoyed teaching his children and grandchildren all that he knew about the sports. When he wasn’t working or enjoying the outdoors, Rodney could be found in his shop. He was very artistic and created many wooden signs for local families and businesses, all of which were engraved and painted by hand.

He was well known for his giving spirit, often donating his time and resources for friends, family and his community. He prided himself on always completing a job as close to perfect as possible, never cutting corners, and always taking his time. Rodney was also a volunteer caretaker of Buena Vista Cemetery in Murphys, Calif., just as his father and mother were before him. He spent many hours at the cemetery creating new roads and paths or clearing out ditches to prepare for winter weather.

He is survived by his mother, Charlotte Tindell, sister, Diane (Jim) Blackshear, children; Jennifer (Sean) McWhirt, Brandy Tindell, Josh Taguinod, Tammy Kress, Roger (Amber) Tindell, grandchildren; Casey McWhirt, Savannah Tindell, David Taguinod, Kylie Kress, Jeffrey Kress, Katie Tindell, Wyatt Tindell, great grandchildren; Maxwell Conway-McWhirt, Halle Sanders and nephews, Eric Collins and Wyatt Collins.

A memorial service will be announced at a later date.
