Detectives interviewed numerous people during the course of the investigation. Information developed during these interviews lead Detectives to an isolated area off of Springfield Road in Columbia CA. On 8/7/15 a female body was located in the area of the search. Due to the level of decomposition the body could not be identified until completion of the autopsy. The recovered female body has now been positively identified as Missing Person Jeane Presson.

At the time the body was recovered Detectives deemed the death suspicious in nature and felt foul play was involved. Due to the nature of the investigation and in an effort to not jeapordize the early stages of the investigation information regarding the recovery of the body was not released until conclusion of the autopsy and positive identification. As of 8/20/15 that process has been completed and the Sheriff’s Office can now release that Presson’s body has been located.

The exact cause of death is still pending the final autopsy report. But, at this time Detectives are proceeding with a homicide investigation. The Investigation is still in the very early stages, and although the Tuolumne County Sheriff’s Office is diligently working on this case there is no time table on when more information will be released.

This is an on going fluid investigation. NO other information will be released at this time. The Tuolumne County Sheriff’s Office would like to thank you in advance for cooperating with us. We will release any major developments or arrests in this case as soon as possible.
