Bret Harte’s Karlee Juarez signs with NCAA Division I University

Angels Camp, CA…The teachers, coaches, teammates and family of student athlete Karlee Juarez celebrated her commitment to pursue her athletic and academic interests next year at the NCAA Division I collegiate level during a celebratory ceremony held at Bret Harte High School on Monday, November 25, 2019. Senior Karlee Juarez signed with Miami University in Ohio, where she will be playing softball.

Juarez has competed at the varsity level during her entire time at Bret Harte. She competed for two years on the varsity volleyball team and will complete her fourth year on the varsity softball team this spring. Karlee was named to the Mother Lode League All-Academic Team all five seasons of play.

Juarez was named to the 2nd Team All-League her freshman year, and 1st Team All-League her sophomore and junior years. At the conclusion of the 18/19 softball season, Juarez led the Mother Lode League with a batting average of .653 and had an on-base percentage of .746. (Calaveras Enterprise, May 31, 2019). Juarez’s 53-game high school career has earned her a .628 batting average, .720 on-base percentage, 81 hits, 11 RBI’s, 75 runs, 18 doubles, six triples and 3 home runs (MaxPreps 11/26/19).

“Karlee is a talented, hardworking, grounded and humble young woman,” shared Heath Lane, principal. “We are pleased she allowed us to celebrate her achievements during yesterday’s ceremonial signing.”

Under the guidance of her coach and father, Karlee dedicated herself to develop and exponentially grow within the sport she loves. “Karlee plays every moment with her heart. And, the right person at the right time happened to be walking by the ballpark. Karlee was up to bat. Coach Clarisa Crowell from Miami University looked over and gave a look, then sat down and never left,” shared Coach Rich Juarez, during the ceremony. “Being her coach is a pleasure. It is easy to do. I very rarely have to speak to her, but when I do it’s in low, not high tones.”

Karlee Juarez shared, “This is a moment I have been waiting four years for. I would not be here without each and everyone one of you impacting my life, whether it was just making me smile that day. To the teachers, staff and administration, thank you for helping me with my academics. To my teammates and my peers, thank you so much. You have shaped me into the person I am today.”

Coach Juarez concluded, “It is an awesome thing to have so many supporters. You do not raise kids by yourself. Everybody that has had a kid go through here knows that. I just cannot say enough. I am extremely proud to be part of this school.”
