Murphys, CA…The Calaveras Grape Stomp, held in conjunction with the Gold Rush Street Faire, is a unique, fun-filled day for the whole family. So make your plans now (for the 1st Saturday in October) to have some great food, award-winning wine, unique entertainment, and a massive Street Faire, all in the picturesque and historic Gold Rush town of Murphys. The perfect place to stay for Grape Stomp Weekend is Murphys Suites.
Murphys Suites was built in 2001 by owner and developer Dennis Lee of Lee-Way Construction and Development Company. The 70 suite facility opened to the public in December 2002. Just in time for the holiday, and to show our spirit of the season the hotel’s perimeter was adorned with white lights and the lobby was decorated with Christmas cheer. The grandeur of the lobby’s high ceilings with rugged exposed beams, hand milled pine railings, elk horn chandelier, and the warmth of the fireplace wrap around you giving you the comforting feeling of a high mountain lodge.
The main stairway and “bell tower” reveal local history and landscape through murals painted by local artist Mike Darby. These masterpieces represent life in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada. From its majestic beauty in Spring to historic ways of life. Gazing into these scenes can transcend you back in time to a simpler way of life and let your high stress way of life melt away.
In modern times, Murphys Suites has been host to many entertainers that have traveled to the Mother Lode for the Ironstone Summer Concert Series. Autographed pictures and posters can be found throughout the lobby. Some of our most memorable guests are the Doobie Brothers, Keb Mo, Willie Nelson, and B.B. King.
We have been privileged to take care of many guests; young and old, famous and not, families and singles. We look forward to treating you to a very comfortable stay and we will do our best to accommodate your needs in any way possible.
