Sonora, CA…From the Tuolumne Sheriff’s Department…”First bust of the new year happens quickly. Deputy V. Lee was patrolling highway 108 just after midnight on New Year’s morning when he noticed a speeding vehicle make an illegal lane change. Deputy Lee stopped the vehicle and soon learned the driver, 37-year-old Chad Hosburgh of Winton, was on Post Release Community Supervision (PRCS).
During a search of the vehicle based on Chad’s PRCS terms, methamphetamine, a collapsible baton and an unregistered, loaded firearm with a high capacity magazine were located.
Chad was arrested and booked for multiple felonies including possessing the firearm as a convicted felon, possessing a high capacity magazine, possessing illegal drugs while armed, carrying concealed weapons in the vehicle and violation of his PRCS terms.
While at the jail, Chad was searched for additional contraband. After telling deputies he was not in possession of anything illegal, deputies located additional methamphetamine concealed on Chad. Chad was additionally booked for bringing drugs into the jail and was being held without bail.
We are happy to get a gun out of the wrong hands and off the streets.
