San Andreas, CA…On 1/02/2020, at 2212 hours, CHP was requested by the Calaveras County Sheriff office for assistance with a vehicle pursuit. They had attempted to stop a intoxicated driver on SR-26 near Warren Rd. The vehicle initially stopped on the right shoulder then the driver fled in the vehicle from the Calaveras County Sheriff Deputy. Officers from San Andreas CHP and a Stockton CHP K-9 unit responded to the area as well as a helicopter from the San Joaquin Sheriff Department.
Officers followed the vehicle on roads and orchards in both San Joaquin and Calaveras County at speeds from 40 to 60 miles per hour. At one point the driver intentionally swerved at an approaching Calaveras County Sheriff patrol car that had its emergency lights activated. Officers were able to set up a “spike strip” on SR-26 at Warren Rd that successfully flattened 3 of the 4 tires. The driver finally stopped on SR-26 at the San Joaquin Co Line and he was arrested without further incident. During an inventory of the vehicle methamphetamine was located inside the passenger compartment.
