Burson, CA…In response to reports of thefts and burglaries in the Burson area, Calaveras Sheriff’s Deputies have been conducting increased extra patrols. This method of community oriented policing also includes extensive analysis of the criminal activity. In some cases, a pattern or patterns of activity has been identified which has allowed the Sheriff’s Office to most efficiently utilize its limited resources.
Deputies were conducting extra patrol activity on January 4, 2020. At about 12:30 AM they noticed a vehicle parked near a closed business. An enforcement stop of the vehicle was conducted as the vehicle attempted to leave the area. Steven Aurthur Williams (43 Years Old Valley Springs, CA) (Driver) and his passenger Jeanine Marie Priest (38 years old, Volcano, CA) were contacted in the vehicle. Deputies immediately noticed several items of suspected stolen property in the vehicle that they believed to have been taken from the closed business. The owner of the business was contacted and confirmed that the items had just been stolen. Suspect Williams and Priest were arrested and transported to the County Jail for booking.
Steven Williams was charged with 460 (B)PC Burglary (Felony), 182(A)(1) Conspiracy to Commit Crime (Felony), 1203.2(a)PC Violation of Probation (Felony) and Possession of Burglary Tools (Misdemeanor). Suspect Williams is being held with no bail due to a probation violation.
Jeanine Priest was charged with 460 (B)PC Burglary (Felony), 182(A)(1) Conspiracy to Commit Crime and Possession of Burglary Tools (Misdemeanor). Bail is $35,000.
