DUI & Felony Resisting Arrest Causing Injury Charges for Sonora Woman

Sonora, CA…On January 4, 2020, just after midnight, CHP Officers were requested by a Tuolumne County Sheriff’s Deputy to assist with a DUI evaluation. After they arrived on scene, they contacted the deputy and 53-year-old Ardella Vanzuiden out of Sonora. A CHP officer administered a series of Field Sobriety Test to Ms. Vanzuiden and she was determined to be under the influence of an alcoholic beverage. She was placed under arrest and transported to the Sonora Area CHP office. While at the CHP office, she became combative and performed a rear kick, which struck one of the CHP officers.

After the officer was struck by her kick, he was able to quickly regain control of her. She was transported to the Tuolumne County Jail and booked for DUI and felony resisting arrest causing injury to a peace officer.
