Port Alberni, BC…While working in the Snowy Monaro Area in southern NSW, Australia contact was lost with one of our large airtankers, a Lockheed C-130 registration N134CG. The aircraft had departed Richmond, NSW with a load of retardant and was on a firebombing mission. About their C-130s
The Lockheed C-130 Hercules is a four-engine turboprop military transport aircraft designed and built by Lockheed Martin. Its ability to use unprepared runways for takeoffs and landings make it very effective in aerial firefighting. The C-130 has been our leading attacker in firefighting. The C-130H Hercules with a Coulson RADS-XXL 4,000 US Gallon roll-on roll-off tanking system, is quite a force to be reckoned with.
