Bacon Island Project Complete On SR-4

San Joaquin County – The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans), has completed the $11.5 million State Route 4 (SR-4) Bacon Island Project. The project widened and upgraded roadway intersections, repaved distressed areas, added shoulders and centerline rumble strips. In addition, left turn lanes were included on SR-4 at the intersections of Inland Drive, Maybeck, Woodsbro and Wilhoit Roads. Newly upgraded drainage facilities also were added along the 12 mile stretch of highway.

The Bacon Island Project was one component of an overall plan to improve the road surface and traffic circulation on SR-4 in San Joaquin County. The next project is the Old River Bridge Roadway Rehabilitation Project which will repave areas from the Old River Bridge to Trapper Road construction to begin fall of 2015 and scheduled to be completed early 2016
