Valley Springs, CA…On April 16, 2020, Animal Services investigated a report that a dog had been found playing with a bat on the 100 block of Happy Jack Court in Valley Springs. The incident happened the day prior, and the owner called Animal Services for guidance. The owner was asked to bring the bat to Animal Services for processing; the bat was then sent to the San Joaquin Public Health Laboratory for rabies testing. The rabies test came back positive. The dogs from that household did not have current rabies vaccinations, and have therefore been placed on a mandatory quarantine.
