Six New COVID-19 Cases Reported in Amador County Since Tuesday

Amador County, CA – Since Tuesday’s COVID-19 update, Amador County Public Health confirms six additional COVID-19 cases in Amador County. Of these cases two are hospitalized. One is hospitalized out-of-county and another is hospitalized locally. Two of the cases reside in Jackson, 1 lives in Ione, 1 lives in Pioneer, 1 lives in Pine Grove, and another resides in Volcano.

The new cases include 3 females and 3 males, 3 age 50-65, and 3 over the age of 65. Two cases are linked to congregate settings, including 1 housed in the Amador County Jail. The Amador Sheriff’s Office Corrections Division prepared in advance to provide for the safety of inmates and correctional staff in the event of an inmate testing positive for COVID-19 and immediately enacted response protocols. Response protocol includes testing of all inmates and any exposed staff. This case has been linked to out-of-county exposure prior to incarceration.

The Amador County Jail will not release inmates due to a positive COVID-19 diagnosis. If an individual is scheduled to be released, the Amador Sheriff’s Office Corrections Division coordinates with Amador County Public Health to
ensure isolation procedures are in place.

Total cases in Amador to date = 51 cases.
Total hospitalized in Amador County = 1 case.
